Welcome to the Currahee Master Gardeners web site! This purpose of this site is to provide information about members, projects, upcoming events, meeting minutes, budget, etc. Our most recent meeting was March 22, 2007. We were fortunate to have Dan Merck give us a presentation on bee keeping. Click here for the meeting minutes. Our next meeting will be on May 24, 2007. Russ Paxton will be sharing adventures of their trip to Amish Country. You don't want to miss this meeting.
Lettuce time again. This lettuce was started inside from seed and transplanted to the top of a compost bin in aged compost mixed with some garden soil. There are shredded leaves on the bottom, which will decompose and settle in time, but for now, it's a good way to get the lettuce off the ground. It's easier to pick, stays cleaner, rabbits can't reach it, and so far, no slugs.
