Kay called the meeting to order. Attending were Kay Smith, Dan Ross, Steve Jordan, and Russell Paxton. Minutes of the last meeting were approved.

Kay reviewed the treasurer's report for Carolyn. A donation had been given to The Stephens County Foundation, Inc, in memory of Lainie Weade. Lainie was a Master Gardener, and a great supporter of the foundations Tugaloo Corridor Project. Kay shared a letter to the Currahee Master Gardeners from Joe Ferguson, Chairman of the Stephens County Foundation, thanking us for the contribution. Mr. Ferguson says in his letter that the foundation continues to work in acquisition of the Heritage Area property, and on construction of an outdoor classroom for area school children.

Steve is to check out visits for MGs to Head Lee Nursury and the Botanical Gardens at Clemson.

We scheduled a clean-up day for the Butterfly Garden at Henderson Falls for Tuesday, Apr. 3, at 6PM. (we'll end up rescheduling this)

A Great American Cleanup group will be meeting at the Courthouse Annex on April 14th from 9AM till Noon. This would be a good opportunity for volunteer hours.

Earth Day is May 5th, at Henderson Falls Park. It starts at 9 and ends around noon or 1PM. Kay has the tent, and says Libby will be there. Some plants are needed, and perhaps some publications from the County Extension Office. This is another great opportunity for volunteer hours.

Dan Merck gave his presentation on bee keeping, which was of great interest to the group. Dan also presented us with a handout on beekeeping, with info on Beehive components, beekeeping history, and honeybee biology and morphology. In case it comes up as a question on trivial persuit, men were robbing bees of honey as early as 6000 BC. In 1851, L. L. Langstroth discovered the bee space, and beekeeping practices changed. Removable frames began to be used, and the same type of boxes are still used today.

After Dan's presentation, the meeting was adjourned.
